Pune: The District Health Office plans to order around 6,156 beds for children’s care in all governments and private hospitals given the possibility of the third wave of Covid-19 pandemic.
Data from district health officials revealed that 3,469 beds will be provided at a government hospital, while 2,687 beds will be provided in a personal set-up for children.
The bed will include the beds supported by oxygen, the ventilator supports ICU beds and isolation beds.
Most of the beds will be reserved within the limit of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) (see box).
Sweetha rose, Nodal PMC officer for Bed Management, told TII, “This is the initial planning that we have done on resources available at civil and personal facilities.
Apart from children, we have told the hospital to prepare to treat Adults, just like in two previous waves.
“Ride said they would have more than 14,000 beds consisting of oxygen-supported beds, ventilators support ICU beds and isolation beds to care for adult covid patients.
PCMC officials said they were working on the creation of children who were dedicated in civil facilities.
One of the wards was created at the new Jijamata Hospital a few weeks ago, while the other at Yashwantrao Chavan’s commemoration hospital was inaugurated on Tuesday.
