Pune: A man died and four women were injured in a broken fire in a small-scale candle manufacturing unit in the Bhau Industries area near Phata Nanded off Sinhagad Road at around 10:30 a.m.
on Thursday.
The police found the body charred from the office cabin unit.
“We will confirm the identity of the man once we get a DNA test report,” Inspector Sadarashiv Shelar from Police Haveli told TII.
PMRDA firefighters, Devendra dirt, told Tii, “We learned from the people, who managed to get out of the unit, that their employers, datan and drawn bendre (36), were in the cabin and could not come out on time.
The others managed to get out .
“Potppode said fire broke out during the weighing sparkling powder used in the making of birthday candles.
He said the sparks from the bulb, which was above the weighing unit, fell on the adjacent corrugated cardboard box which was also covered by the powder layer.
Shelar Inspector said 16 women and two men, including Bendre, were within the unit and operated on the first floor of the Plus-One building hired for renting more than five years ago.
He said, “Some of these women were transferred to safety and four others jumped from the first floor.
A woman suffered a broken leg and three other women suffered minor injuries.” Police said the locals heard the explosion and pieces of window glass looked scattered at all Place and on the road in front of the building.
Potpoda officers and Soujit Patil fire station reached the place with eight fire tenders after an emergency call at 10:24 a.m.
Firefighting officials carry fire under control after about one and a half hours.
