Pune: NDA authority said that the airfield in the academy can be used for operational military training and flight.
On September 23, the C-130 military transport aircraft managed to land on the NDA airfield.
A academy official said successfully landing and taking off the plane, the classification of airfields as a hosting operation of facilities by the frontline of the IAF transport aircraft was ratified.
“This historical milestone will walk away in the use of the NDA airfield for operational military training and flights,” the official said.
The trial for a fixed wing landing from the Dornier aircraft and successful landing was conducted in 2019.
“Next, a detailed study of the runway and Medan carried out, and the first trial landing by the C-130 aircraft was reached on September 23,” the official said.
NDA has a full airfield where the sixth air force cadet is the sixth undergoing training in Sorti on a super-dimona plane.
“Runway is also used for routine training and operational mission by Mi 17 1V, Chetaks, and a light army helicopter,” the official said.
The runway is around 1.5 km and 30m wide.
“With a runway of 5,000 feet and functional air traffic control, airplane can hold military air operations with helicopters and most wing transport aircraft remain,” said Academy officials.
Captain of the Group (RETD) Johnson Chacko, a combat pilot and a former senior air force training instructor in NDA, said the academy runway can now be used for emergency landing.
“Light aircraft used by employers can make emergency landings.
In the case of a detrimental security scenario at Pune Airport, Runway NDA can be used for operational purposes,” Chacko said.
