Pune: Some housing communities have asked residents to pay attention to other people when celebrating Diwali because many still have not recovered from Covid-19, mourning losing loved ones or fighting through difficult situations.
RAN, resident of the housing community at Nibm-undri Road, said, “We do not allow the outbreak of firecrackers in place of society.
However, residents can do it outside the main gate.” Sanjeevan Sangale, another resident of a housing community at Pimpri-Chinchwad, said, said “We were unanimously decided not to burn hard crackers and those who caused too much smoke.” Alpesh Shah, housing community secretary in Mohamadwadi, said, “We arranged lunch for housekeeping staff and security to show appreciation for their work during a pandemic.” Considering accidents that might occur due to exploding crackers, some housing communities have also carried out fire security workshops for residents.
Virendra Borade, Deputy Chairperson, Events and Programs, the Indian Fire and Security Association, Pune Branch, said that the training program was hosted in 5-6 housing communities throughout the city for a week.
