Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has attached 3,000 properties in his jurisdiction for tax defaults.
All such properties will be auctioned if defraugter does not pay contributions.
“This property owner has avoided payment for a long time.
Notification and warning sent.
But they have not obeyed the guidelines.
So, the property has been attached,” said Vilas Kanade, Head of the PMC Property Tax Department, said.
According to citizenship officials, before attaching property, they issued a notification or seal property for a temporary period.
But even after all this, if the payment was not carried out, PMC took the property to his ownership and put his name on 7/12 abstract, making it the owner.
Civil officials said the attachment began in August 2020 after a number of opportunities were given to property owners to clean their contributions.
PMC will start the process to auction of this property and can be online with it.
Problems such as responsibility for property, bank loans and other financial details must be studied before the auction, officials said.
Data shows that the civil area has 12 lakh properties that must pay taxes where 4.5 lakh is in the default list.
PMC produces around 1,200 to 1,300 crore per year through this tax.
It has a RS 2,000 Crore target for fiscal 2021-22.
“PMC has started an amnesty scheme for tax defulter, which offers discounts in penalties.
But many don’t participate to remove contributions, leave us without choice rather than attaching their property,” said a senior PMC official.
Property owners who pay taxes before May 31 get a 5% discount to 10%.
This year, the committee continues to give more time to residents to pay taxes at a discount price.
The deadline has been extended until June 30 in the last two fiscals due to a pandemic.
Property tax is charged based on an annual average value of the property.
