Pune: Now after Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has begun to raise the piles of garbage that accumulates along the stretch of Katraj Ghat, regular commuter hopes a cleaner travel experience.
The pile of garbage that accumulates along the Ghat and the path of the approach has aroused odor and commuting irritably about illegal dumping.
In addition to raising garbage, the administration has also appointed a team to intensify Vigil all the time at GHAT to prevent further drain.
Ghat began after Katraj and ended on the other side of the hill on the national highway Pune-Kolhapur.
Shivapur Aba Ghule’s resident, who often traveled to Katraj to deliver vegetables, said that all parts of the Ghat were filled with garbage thrown off on both sides of the road.
Waste also causes vehicle movement obstruction.
Now, the administration must ensure that garbage is not thrown here again, he said.
A PMC official said that the removal of waste began earlier this month after three villages, located along the Ghat section, combined within the boundaries of citizenship.
“It was observed that a large number of garbage was being discarded by residents of Bhilarwadi, Mangdewadi and Gujar-Nimbaldiwadi, located along Ghat.
We held a meeting with residents to stop the practice of throwing garbage in Ghat,” the official added.
In the past three weeks, administration imposed a fine of 83 violators, who was caught disposing of garbage in the section.
Pradnya Potdar, Head of Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar Civic Ward, said, “A drive has begun to clean the part of the Ghat.
We have cleaned up the garbage from almost all chronic spots in Ghat.
Now, to limit dumping, we have pointed to the team that works in shifts Day and night because garbage is thrown at night.
So far, the steps produce positive results.
