Pune: Metro Workers, Eklash Nazir Shaikh (27), who lived in Pimple Gurav, died after the steel stem bundle fell on his head in the metro warehouse located near Nasik Phata at 11:45 a.m.
on Friday.
According to police Sangvi, workers lifted a steel rod with a heavy duty crane in the warehouse to move the bar to the Metro website on the old Mumbai-Pune highway when the accident occurred.

“Crane operators cannot manage the engine correctly and the bundle falls on Shaikh’s head.
The operator escaped from the scene and our team was looking for it,” said Senior Inspector Sunil Tonpe from the Sangvi Police Station.
Shaikh’s friend Fakual Ajibul Shaikh (26) filed a complaint to the police on Friday night.
Tonpe said, “Metro builds a bridge near Nasik Phata and materials such as cement and steel stems are stored in nearby warehouses.” He added: “The material is lifted and loaded into the truck.
The truck then moves the material to the Metro Construction site”.
“The workers, including Eklash Shaikh, packed steel stems in the bundle and crane lifted them to the truck.
However, one of the bundles was not balanced with the crane operator and it slipped and fell.
He fell on the head of the deceased.
