Pune: Private bus operators in the city reject a large increase in Diwali rates amid fewer celebration orders.
While the state transportation department allows them to increase tariffs in accordance with the formula set, the majority of Transporter said it was not an option because the booking remained less this year.
According to the transportation department, private bus operators can increase rates of up to 50% of the fees charged by the MSRTC plying bus on the same route.
“Booking for Diwali is between 40% and 45% compared to ordinary years.
In this middle, we cannot risk losing customers by increasing tariffs,” said personal transporter.
Ravindra More, Manager Prasnana Purple, said, “The tariff increases during the festival period to balance the costs incurred on the bus that returns empty to Pune from the location.
In the midst of the current situation, we are not in a position to call back the bus so the passenger falls.” Transporter Another, which has a plying fleet into the Marathwada region, said the tariff has climbed a nominal because of high fuel costs.
“The increase has been 10% -15%.
There is a lot of competition and when the passengers realize it, they bargain.
The maximum person traveling during Diwali is a professional and student,” he said.
The MSRTC managed by the government said it would run around 650 additional buses to various parts of the state and neighboring countries during Diwali.
Baba Shinde, President of the Maharashtra goods transportation and passenger association, told TI that bus rates would increase to two days before and four days after Diwali.
“We do this mainly because of the increase in fuel rates,” Shinde said.
