Pune: The airport police are investigating the case of threats and extortion against e-mail senders to publish the threat of a letter to a senior official of a private financial company headquartered in Pune, stating that he would delete company data by hacking into the database.
Email sender demanded extension 11.63 Croter Cryptocurrency coins and threatened to delete data if not paid.
According to the police, the company official has received a letter on November 28, 2021, and the company immediately protects the data.
One of the company managers (ages 32) approached the airport police on Friday and filed a complaint against an unknown sending of email threats.
Toi on Saturday night contacted a senior officer with the company but he said, “I am not authorized to talk to the media.” Senior Police Inspector Bharat Jadhav from the Airport Police said, “The Financial Company Top Boss on November 28, 2021, received an email from the same sender.
We suspect a hacker can send an email.” Jadhav said, “We investigate how emailed all senior officials are compromised Of course.
” “This is a case of threats and efforts for extortion.
Corporate officials do not transfer any cryptocurrency coins to the suspect,” he said, refusing to divulge the details of email to TOI.
“We received complaints on Friday and we have decided to check from where (the server) email was sent to company official.
However, it was suspected that the email was sent after repairing it from several servers,” said a senior police officer.
According to the police, it is one of the rarest cases where hackers demand extension in Cryptocurrency.
