Pune IMA wants a dose of booster for health workers

Pune: The doctor attached to the Pune branch of the Indian Medical Association in a round voice sustains the need for a dose of booster for health workers, making it the first unit of the medical body in India to officially make recommendations.
Senior Pediatrician Dilip Sarda, Chairperson of the Inti Indian Association (IMA) Core Committee (IMA) on Vaccination Covid said, “Various studies have proven that the protective antibody vaccine is mediated by WANE after six to eight months.
Health care workers are the most open and high-risk segments.
Therefore, they must at least get a third booster dose.
“Branch President Ima Maharashtra, Ramkrishna Londhe said,” State and the IMA National Agency have not made recommendations for booster shots for health workers.
” In a small study of 40 members were recently carried out, the air carrier Pune Ima found that the level of SARS-COV-2 antibodies varied greatly.
“All 40 positive members for virus special antibodies, but some have less than 50, while the levels are as high as 500 in some, showing the depletion and the need for a booster dose,” said Sarda.
Booster’s shot, although offered in several Western countries, remains a topic that is largely debated in India.
The center recently explained that it was not a priority, indicating that the decision about the third dose might not occur soon.
Ima, Pune, Members expressed readiness to undergo a trial to assess the need for a dose of booster among health workers in India.
Sanjay Patil, Chairperson of the Wing Hospital Pune Ima, said, “When the Covid vaccine was launched on January 16 in India, health workers were the first to get it.
Most of the confidence of the safety and lending capacity of vaccine protection was built on their vaccination data.
Therefore , If it is about assessing the need for a booster dose, health workers attached to the Pune IMA branch are ready to participate in the study.
“The booster dose can be given to people who are vaccinated with a lower antibody level against Covid-19, Patil said.
“The concern of the government union is vaccination all populations that meet the requirements with at least one dose.
We are all for that.
There are about one lakh health worker in Pune.
