Pune: In a large increase of 15th place last year, Pune confirmed the fifth position among cities with more than 10 Lakh populations in the union government hygiene survey this year.

However, city-based citizens groups said that even though city rating had increased, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) faced the challenges of handling additional waste from 23 villages joining.
