Pune: Authorities in Zoological Park Rajiv Gandhi, AKA KATRAZ ZOO, are considering reopening the facility to the public in December after taking care of it since March 2020 due to Pandemic Covid-19.
“Civic administration is awaiting guidelines from the state government.
Once, we get clarity from the country’s authority, the zoo will be reopened.
Covid norms and guidelines will be followed for the entry of residents who visit the zoo,” said Dnyaneshwar Molak, the additional commissioner of Pune Municipal Company Corporation.
According to PMC officials, the decision to restart the facility was not taken because of locking.
Zoo officials said they demanded facility restarted because all other facilities had been opened.
“Prevention steps can be taken to start the facility.
PMC will make a declaration of it after a thorough test.
Zoo’s management has submitted his request to PMC to reopen facilities from December,” said a senior zoo official.
According to the data on the zoo, almost 7,000 to 12,000 people are used to visit facilities every day.
The amount is high over the weekend.
According to the data on the zoo, it has nearly 440 animals from 63 different species.
A total of 25 staff members were directly related to these animals.
They include zoo guards and veterinarians.
