Pune: Regular commuters can expect some pauses from traffic snarls through the busy Chandni Chowk area when the Indian National Highway Authority (NHAI) has begun steps to repair holes that have appeared along the stretch.
Furthermore, at least 25 traffic guards must be appointed to manage the flow of traffic along the stretch where elevated work is taking place.
About 22% of work on the project has been completed so far and this is expected to relieve vehicle traffic in the area.
The plan includes the provision of access roads towards Road Pirangut, Bavdhan and PAUD Road to the city, besides a quiet.
The ongoing work has caused the relieve traffic in the whole stretch of Jalan Bypass Katraj-Dehu, especially during the hasty hours.
Regular commuters have been seeking more deployment of traffic police staff at the main intersection on stretches.
Taking awareness of the difficulties faced by commuters, Kothrud MLA and BJP President Chandrakant Patil recently made a visit at that location and asked Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and NHAI officials and police officers to start steps.
Patil stated that the hole must be repaired within eight days and look for the provisions of other steps to avoid chaos at the intersection.
An official from Nhai said the steps needed were planned to streamline traffic and push the job forward.
“Repair holes will now be done on an ongoing basis even though it is a difficult task because the entire stretch witnesses flowing large vehicles all the time.
We have been asked to repair holes in the main locations and install safety barricades in places, where work is ongoing.
In some parts, the hole will be repaired at night so to avoid discomfort for commuters, “officials said.
Meanwhile, some parts of the land needed for this project have not been submitted to NHAI.
Nhai authorities said that they were in talks with PMC to get the land needed.
