Pimpri Chinchwad: To increase solid waste separation of up to 100% of the current 70% in the source and reduce the daily waste load of 1,100 metric tons, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will establish four waste transfer stations across civilian boundaries.
The station will be arranged in Sangvi Old, Rugged, Nigdi, and Kalewadi.
These stations, according to the additional commissioner of PCMC Vikas Dhakane, will cut the transfer of waste, processing and disposal.
“We have studied Indore and Bhubaneshwar segregation models, where the waste transfer station has played a key role in the garbage dump systems.
We have identified land for stations and work will begin soon,” Dhakane told Toi.
Meanwhile, PCMC has held a ‘Ploggathon 2021’ on November 21.
Cleaning activities will be carried out at 32 wards.
