Pune: Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Mahametro) has completed 90% of the construction of the Phugewadi Metro station and plans to resolve the rest in the coming days.
Phugewadi is the second station, after one in Sant Tukaramnagar, to be ready on the priority route of Pimpri-Dapodi.
Mahametro plans to start full service between these two stations in the initial phase.
Officials say most of the work in the interior of the station is complete – including the construction of the platform and cable installation.
Working in the exterior, overbridge feet and stairs are ongoing.
Initially, the station would have two stairs from the path on both sides of the road.
More entrances will be arranged at the next stage as needed, officials said.
“We have accelerated the work at Phugewadi Station.
Exterior work will be finished soon.
Various institutions work in coordination at the location,” officials from Mahametro.
The official added, “The station will have two levels.
The first will accommodate concourse where commuters will be able to buy tickets or swipe their cards.
The platform will be upstairs.
The station will also have escalators and lifts to provide easy access to the concourse and platform .
There will be a waiting room and direction also.
“Hemant Sonawane, General Manager (PR) in Mahametro, said,” Mahametro has completed guava development on the Pimpri-Dapodi route.
Now, the construction of the station is a priority.
Another station – Pimpri, Nashik Phata , Roughwadi and dapodi – also at the advanced stage.
The construction of the station is the most critical work of the Metro project because it involves a lot of complicated work, such as preparing control space for signaling, monitoring tracks and commuter facilities.
“Mahametro said work on Viaduct that crossed the river in Harris bridge has begun.
Metro will travel to Khadki after crossing the river.
