Pune: Hinjewadi police on Friday saved 32-year-old herbal medicine vendors who were kidnapped on September 28 for RS25Lakh ransom.
The police team, led by the Senior Inspector Balkrishna Sawant, arrested five kidnappers, from Thane, and the mastermind from Marunji.
“The suspect, Pravin Chitodiya (24), hatched the plot to kidnap the victim following the old monetary dispute,” said Police Commissioner Pimpri Chinchwad Krishna Prakash.
He said that the victim runs a business of herbal medicines in the Marunji area.
He has bought a plot of land there.
“Chitodiya thought that the victim had made a lot of money and decided to kidnap him because of the ransom,” Krishna Prakash said.
The Commissioner said that on September 28, Chitodia kidnapped the victim with his car.
“The next day, the victim’s brother received a call of extortion.
He immediately told the police,” he said.
The police managed to put a trap and arrest his kidnappers.
They also saved vendors.
He said that the kidnappers revealed the name Chitodiya when questionable.
“He was arrested from Marunji,” Krishna Prakash said.
