Pune: A 50-year-old teacher from Manjari was deceived by Rs 4.28 lakh in the matrimonial and customs fraud between March 1 and March 20 this year.
The first information report (FIR) was registered at the HadapanSar police on Wednesday.
Sachin Gadekar Sub-Inspector of the Hadapsar Police on Thursday said, “Fraudsters who claimed to work in a private company had promised to marry him after making friends with the Matrimonial site in March and then claimed to have made him a parcel and his aide captivated at him.
He was to pay customs through RTGs to claim it.
“Gadekar said he realized that he was cheated after his cheater and his aide had turned off their cellphones and their existence was unknown.
The woman in her pen said the cheater had never met him directly.
He tells him that he sent expensive gifts from Dubai.
