Pune: A 16-year-old boy was detained by Khadak police on Tuesday to be questioned after his father filed a complaint accusing a teenager to steal 16 tolas (160g) Gold ornaments worth Rs 4,16 lakh in phase between July 28 and August 30 from their home, and sell it to jewelry.
The boy will provide RS1,000 as a tip for each of his three friends every time they sell stolen ornaments in his name to jewelry.
He uses the remaining money to brandish his online game bill, buy expensive cellphones, and party.
He posted photos posing with cash in online dating applications and on social networking sites.
Senior Shrihari Inspector Bahathat Police Khadak said the boy and one of his friends who was detained was STD X students while two other friends were STD XII students.
Bahier added that the theft was revealed on August 30 when the boy’s mother, a housewife, realized while cleaning and resetting the house that her ornaments were gone.
“He examined which ornaments were missing and told her husband, who worked with the shipping section of the top-class luxury car manufacturing factory in Chakan,” he added.
The boy’s father noticed the change in his son’s behavior and asked him about missing ornaments.
The boy then revealed the whole story, said Bahier.
Investigators have not restored stolen ornaments and saw several jewelry stores in the old city where ornaments were sold.
Bahalat said, “The father of three other boys also worked in a different company in Pune City.
These children also spend money on partying and buying electronic gadgets.
Son complainants take many photos with currency notes and upload them at various Social Networking Site.
We are checking the boy’s phone to get more details about where he spends money.
“Jewelry stolen costs RS4.16 Lakh, but jewelry pays boys just half the number.
“We will identify this jewelry store and take strong action against them,” he added.
