Pune: Private security guards walk to the Hinjewadi police station on Tuesday night and told the officers on duty that he had hacked his wife to death with a helicopter near his house in Punawale.
The police immediately detained him and rushed to his house where they found the woman lying along the way.
An officer from Police Hinjewadi said the suspect, Rahul Pratape (32) from Punantual, then said he killed his wife, Gauri (21), when he suspected he had “extra-marriage infidelity”.
“They were married about five years ago and stayed in a rented room in Vijaynagar in Punawale,” the officer said, adding that Pratape worked as a private security guard, while Gauri was a housewife.
He said on Tuesday night, Parate again quarreled with Gauri for the same problem.
“When he went out of the house, Pratape followed him and attacked him with a helicopter.
Gauri was killed in a place when he had received a big blow on his head,” the officer said.
He said Pratape then came to the police station and claimed his crime.
He has been arrested under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian criminal code and the relevant parts of the Indian arms law, the officer said, added that further investigation was ongoing.
