Pune: Wakad’s police arrested a nurse from a private hospital on charges of extortion and tried to squeeze RS20LAKH from residents of Rahni with whom he had developed friendship during a hospital visit for dialysis treatments.
The police said the woman threatened the victim by making their personal chat message and looked for RS20 Lakh to resolve this problem.
The man reported this problem to the police.
Assistant Inspector Santosh Patil and his team from Police Wakad put a trap and arrested him while he came to raise money in Shivar Chowk at Rahatti on Thursday.
The police have requested allegations under section 384 (extortion) and 385 (placing people in fear of injury to make extortion) from the Indian criminal code against the woman arrested.
Senior Inspector of Vivek Mugalikar from Police Wakad told TII, “the complainant acquitted by the nurse because he had to go to the hospital regularly for the alisis.
They used to chat and even exchanged messages on the smartphone,” Mugalikar said.
On December 24 the woman contacted the man and told him that he would make their personal message and chat in public, including to family members and neighbors.
“He also threatened to slander it on social media by claiming that he cheated women,” Mugalikar said.
