Pune: The Civic body has slapped the fine of RS 2.14 Lakh on the contractor in Budhwar Peth to fill more than a standard rate for parking vehicles.
Residents have submitted complaints against parking contractors for excessive charging.
“The showcuse notice is served to him, but he did not reply in the deadline.
So, the fine was forced to him,” Sushmita Shirke, Insetior Engineer, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), said in the notice.
According to the notice, the tender provisions explain that parking fees have been repaired and the staff must behave well with visitors.
Standard rates in public parking are RS14 per hour for four wheels and Rs3 per hour for two wheels.
“Citizens complained that parking staff members in Budhwar Peth did not behave badly with vehicle owners.
They threatened them with terrible consequences if questioned about overcharging.
So, the action has been taken according to the terms of the contract”, said an official said.
“The notification reply is expected in seven days, but has not been accepted.
So, a fine has been charged based on the generation of monthly income from the parking lot.
According to the requirements, RS2.14 Lakh (50% of total monthly income) has been charged as fine.
PMC Will have a parking lot if the complaint is received again from residents, “the notice said.
