Pune: There are no cases of omicrons found after sequencing 909 samples

Pune: Researchers have ruled out local transmission from the omicron variant at Pune for now.
Accelerated sequencing targeted by 909 positive covid samples taken from the infected patient community without travel history found delta and sub-lineages behind infection.
In addition to sorting positive samples from infected tourists and their close contact, the research laboratory in Pune also sorted positive samples from Daily Covid cases to track the SARS-COV-2 variant in the community.
For this, five research centers have worked together and have attracted 1,400 positive samples from private and public laboratories for genome sequencing.
“From 1400, the sequencing of 909 samples was finished and we did not find the only Omicron case in it,” said Dr.
Rajesh Karyakarte, senior microbiology, and state coordinator for the sequencing of the genome.
The remaining 491 sequencing of the remaining sample was underway.
“Their reports will be available in a week,” said Karakarte.
Government Medical Universities managed by countries at Sassoon General Hospital have a central coordination laboratory.
It collects positive samples that are in accordance with the criteria for CT values from private laboratories and the government and distribute them to sequencing all genomes.
The remaining four cum-laboratory studies which are part of the Pune regional genome consortium are the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Indian Education and Research Institute (IISER) Indian, National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), and the National Institute of Cell Science (NIC).
The researchers at Iiser sorted 764 highest positive samples were followed by NCCS (139) and NIV (6).
Prohibiting Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur, all Genome sequencing work – reinforced after concern over Omicron – especially representing several cities.
Experts say genome research requires collaborative work in all districts to override the spread of highly contagious variants such as Omicron.
Regency officials are entrusted with the responsibility of sending adequate covid samples from their jurisdictions to sort into designated research laboratories, however, underline a dramatic decline in positive cases, resulting in uneven representation in sequencing work at the state level.
“We have begun prioritizing samples with a value of less than 25 ct for genome sequencing in Maharashtra.
However, for some districts, we have stretched this limit of up to 30 CT Covid Case values have fallen significantly in several places in Maharashtra.
The aim is to ensure That a number of adequate samples from each district are sorted, “said a state health official who asked for anonymity.
Maharashtra has reported 18 omicron cases, so far.
They have international travel history or are close contacts from these infected people with a history of travel.
However, there is no case a local transmission that shows the appearance of the community like now.
From Australia to Zambia, the Omicron variant has been seen at least 60 countries and regions so far, with more than 20 reported transmission of local communities.
