Pune: Mhalunge police have recovered 14 motorbikes worth RS3.21 Lakh following the arrest of three people about charges using key duplicates and stealing bicycles parked outside the company.
Police Commissioner Pimpri Chinchwad Krishna Prakash on Wednesday said Mhalunge police studied motorcycle theft spots.
“The team examined 245 CCTV and traps lying in these places,” Prakash said.
The police identified the trio as Shrikant Chakranarayan (31), Amit Tookelkar (27) and Gopal Kandelkar (27) recently, assistant Inspector Dattatreya Gulig and the others patrolled in the Mhalunge MIDC area when they saw Chakranarayan moving with suspicion outside the company.
“Seeing the police team, he began to escape.
The police arrested him after chasing,” Prakash said.
During a sustainable question, he acknowledged his involvement in a series of bicycle theft and revealed the other two names involved.
“Our team caught Kandelkar from Mhalunge and Took from Aurangabad,” Police Commissioner said.
He said, “They used to transport stolen bikes through private luxury buses to Yavatmal and Buldhana districts.
We arrested four buyers from these districts for buying this stolen vehicle.”
