Pune: The City Police Special Branch (SB) has arrested Resident Ghorpadi Aziz Yusuf Shaikh (40) and his aide, Jorna Hasim Shaikh (34) from Teacher Peth, on charges of giving false documents to people to produce aadhaar cards.
The police stormed a shop at BT Kawade Road on Wednesday afternoon and made his arrest.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (SB) Bhagyashri Navatake, Assistant Inspector Vasanti Jadhav, Sub-Inspector Abdul Karim Sayyed and their team raided the store after receiving a tip-off that two people were preparing fake documents for people to get the original aadhaar card.
Aziz was a graduate while Jorna was dropping out of school, police said.
According to the police, the duo used to charge the RS700 to provide aadhaar cards to customers based on false documents and fabrication.
Cases of cheating and forgery have been registered at the Mundhwa police station against both.
The police have recovered 10 forms for Aadhaar cards, Corporators rubber stamps and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) members, list of people’s names provided by Aadhaar cards, and documents with corsetor signatures and PMC members.
The police said that all rubber stamps and documents were fake.
This duo is used to upload this fake document on the official website of the Uidai website to produce aadhaar cards.
As long as it was questioned, the Duo told the police that they were preparing false documents and fabrication for the past seven months to provide aadhaar cards to people.
According to the police, people who come directly in the city of Pune need aadhaar card for several works such as opening a bank account or to get a SIM card and others.
