Pune: The supply of covishield and covaxin vaccines increased significantly in Pune District in June.
This region has been sent by more than 6.7 doses of lakh from the main vaccine this month, the Department of Health officials said a group of doses is now expected on Wednesday.
Supply can take a total dose received to more than seven lakh.
The amount does not include vaccines supplied to private hospitals in the region, which has maintained their daily vaccination drive.
Sanjay Deshmukh, Assistant Director (Medical), Pune Circle, said that upgraded supply also increased vaccine coverage in June, which has seen the highest number of beneficiaries borne since April, when the district has vaccinated more than 14 beneficiaries of Lakh.
In May, more than 5 lakh were given their Jab.
“At that time, the supply only came from the center.
Now, private hospitals also buy vaccines and have increased coverage in all districts, especially in the Metropolitan Pune region,” Dishmukh said.
He said that the final vaccine supplies for June is likely to arrive on Wednesday, which can take the total number of vaccine doses received to seven lakh.
But he added that Covaxin supply continued limited.
“We are a little short on Covaxin so that shots have been provided only for those who are due to the second dose.
The two covishield doses continue to be given because of their availability.
Also, even if the covishield is not available on the site managed by the government, the beneficiaries have the option to get it from the hospital Private, “said Deshmukh.
On June 28, the district was vaccinated 39.48 residents of Lakh – 30.89 Lakh had received their first dose while 8.59 Lakh residents had received their second dose.
On Tuesday, records showed that 60,418 beneficiaries were vaccinated against Covid-19 in the district.
