Pune: Pune Zilla Parshad on Tuesday announced a ‘free village covid’ contest, with RS50lakh money prize, RS25LAKH and RS10LAKH for the best three gram panthayats.
The performance of a village will be assessed at 22 points based on Covid-19 management and mitigation initiatives taken between January 10 and March 15.
This step was taken to contain the spread of the virus in the countryside Pune, where the active case of Covid was active in the increase since last week.
There are 1,387 total grams of panchayats in 13 district tehsils.
“The state government has issued a comprehensive guideline for this initiative.
Each performance parameter carries a sign.
Gram Panchayats will get two signs / points if they managed to sell milk and family vegetables infected with Covid.
Likewise, there are points for other aspects too,” said Chief Executive Officer ZP Ayush Prasad.
Gram Panchayats has been told to prepare quarantine facilities, ambulance teams or vehicle drivers who will teach Covid patients to Covid facility, set the Helpline Covid number for the village, and a special vaccination team to complete vaccination in the village, said ZP officials.
Block development officers from each tehsil will analyze the performance of each Panchayat gram and send the names of top players to ZP.
ZP officials will verify their performance notes before sending names from the three best Gram Panchayats to the Division commissioner.
