Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has given approval for a special scheme to fund higher education city school students merit.
“This step aims to promote higher studies among civil school students.
It will also reduce the dropout rate.
The proposal for this has been approved by the Standing Civic Committee,” Hemant Rasane said, Chairman of the Committee.
The Women and Child Welfare Committee has approved a proposal that allows this specific scholarship.
The decision was taken considering the reduction of parents’ income due to a pandemic Covid-19.
The five best students will be selected from X and XII standards.
PMC offers scholarships for collecting students every year.
On average around Rs 20 Crore is spent on that.
Any student, who has scored more than 85% sign in SSC and a sign of 80% in HSC qualify for this award.
Previously, PMC had transferred funds from other different development jobs to meet scholarship demand for students in need.
