Chandigarh: Punjab Advocate General (AG) APS Deol resigned from the post on Monday.
His resignation was surprisingly for everyone, when he was appointed by Chararjit Singh Channi-LED Congress Government on September 27.
While the source that was highly placed confirmed his resignation, Deol could not be contacted for comments.
On September 27, the Punjab government had told the appointment of senior advocates as AG countries.
His appointment was opposed by the Head of the State Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu while maintained by CM Chararjit Singh Channi.
He has replaced senior advocate Atul Nanda who has submitted his resignation from Pos AG after the resignation of captain Amarinder Singh from the position of minister of chairman.
However, the appointment of Deol’s Advocate as AG has triggered a debate as he has represented the former Punjab DGP, Sumedh Singh Saini who has faced charges in the Behbal shooting incident related to Punjab cases.
AG is a senior state legal officer and enjoys a rating on par with the Cabinet Minister.
