Ludhiana: Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, has been given Indian patents about ‘fermentation processes to increase glucose production from sweet sorghum bagasse using asidothilic mushroom cellulase’ by the Indian Patent Office, New Delhi.
Patents have been given for 20 years in accordance with the provisions of the patent law.
This is the 15th Indian patent given to Pau and second to the main microbiology of G S Kocher.
The team also included the Ritika of Doctoral Students from the Department of Microbiology and H S Oberoi, scientists, the Institute of Technical Technology Center for the Harvest (CIPHET), Ludhiana.
According to Kocher, the present invention relates to the fermentation process to increase glucose production from Sweet Sorghum Bagasse (SSB) using the Accido-Thermophilic Coverse consortium produced by Aspergillus Fumigatus.
Because, this process uses thermophilic fungi, cooling during the production of enzymes and / or hydrolysis is not needed which is energy and cost savings.
Furthermore, Kocher said the present invention was in line with the biofuel policy, 2018, from the Ministry of Oil and Gas, where a higher emphasis was placed on the lignocellulose residue of agriculture as a substrate (2G) for bioethanol production as more fund-up funds and incentives has been provided.
