Ludhiana: Ludhiana Punjab Regency has witnessed a 37 percent reduction in the case of burning stumps this year compared to the previous season, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma told a farmer on Monday.
Overcoming Kani Mela, organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Deputy Commissioner said that according to statistics, the district had witnessed soaking in the incidence of burning stump with 37 percent this time.
He said that last year from September 15 to October 31, 1,316 incidents of burning stumps were reported which are now reduced to 826 in the same period this year.
He praised the farmers to join the battle against threats and contributed to preserving valuable natural resources by avoiding combustion of mounts.
Sharma, who also maintained 13 people, said that farmers should not enjoy this practice that caused damage that could not be improved in the environment.
He said that the state government had provided great subsidies to farmers to buy ultra-modern machines for the management of In-Situ Stikble Padi.
Praising the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture to conduct a weld, Deputy Commissioner said that the weld was very helpful to better understand the expertise of farmers.
He said that in addition to those who assessed farmers about the use of final technology in agriculture such as welding also helped in providing vital guidance for farmers regarding plant management and soil health.
Overcoming the meeting, Secretary CJM-CUM-DLSA PS Kalaka asked progressive farmers to disseminate the message of the anti-stump burning campaign in their area to ensure a clean environment.
Joint-Cum-Nodal Officer Director, Punjab Crop Residu Management Program, Manmohan Kalia urged farmers to adopt in-situ residual management with all my heart to manage stumps as burning of stumps of rice very dangerous.
