Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet on Monday approved the establishment of the ‘University of Plaksha’ financed in the city of IT Mohali.
The university will be functional from this academic session.
The Cabinet gave a nod to the design of ‘The Plaquitha University Ordinance 2021’, and allowed the Minister of Chief to approve the last draft prepared by legal remembrancer, without placing it again before the Ministership.

Campus, will be developed in a prime location in Mohali, Sas Nagar, with an investment of RS 244 Crore in Phase-1 and Total Rs 1145 Crore for five years.
Upcoming universities will have an annual intake of 300-400 students at first, and up to 1500 students when the campus is fully established.
The university will be at the forefront of contemporary technology such as AI, ML, IoT, Robotics and Data Science and will also arrange research centers to help and solve some of the largest challenges in the region, including digital health, digital agriculture, cybersecurity and future mobility.
The Punjab government has made it mandatory to order 15% of seats exclusively for students from Punjab at the upcoming university, and full tuition concessions for no less than 5% of the total strength of the candidates who are weaker than community parts, as part of society, as part of Ordinance and terms and conditions.
The university will recruit teaching and non-teaching staff according to the UGC guidelines.
It will also carry out industry-oriented teaching, training and research extensions programs, to provide skills that can be used with a view to contribute to community development.
