CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has decided to offset the assessments of course XII because of Covid pandemic as well as the Punjab School Education Board(PSEB) would finally announce the results according to the routine of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).
The college instruction minister Vijay Inder Singla said on Saturday that the decision was taken following a nod from main ministry Capt Amarinder Singh also it was the need of hour to have a decision on assessments as parents and pupils too were concerned about their admissions at the greater study classes.
He explained that according to the formula that was adopted, the PSEB will ready the outcome based on a 30:30:40 formulation depending on the pupil’s performance in courses 10, 11 and 12, respectively.

He added that it wasn’t feasible for the instruction board to run the examinations because of the challenges posed from the Covid virus.
The cabinet minister said the PSEB will probably be nearing the result according to a typical 30% concept part of three performing areas from the major five topics in category X and 30 percent weightage on the basis of marks obtained from the pupils in pre-board, technical evaluation in courses XI and 40 percent weightage on the foundation marks acquired in pre-board evaluation, practical examination and internal examination in category XII.
“In the event of the pupils who have shifted stream after course XI, the consequence of these pupils would be ready according to weightage on the grounds of the marks obtained in category X and weightage on the grounds of their pre-board and technical examination along with internal examination obtained in category XII,” he further added.
The faculty education minister stated that the facts about implementation of these parameters determined could be made public around the PSEB site, login ID of colleges too.
He added the college heads will be liable for publishing the marks of courses X, XI and XII around the portal site and the outcome is expected to be announced on or before July 31.
“The pupils, who wouldn’t be happy with the outcome according to the aforementioned formula, evaluation for them could be conducted while the situation gets more conducive,” stated the college education minister.
