Chandigarh: After the Chairman of the Minister Amarinder Singh resigned on Saturday after a quick turn of events, the name for the top post had done a round with former PPCC Sunil Jakhar’s head, present Navjot Singh Singh Sidhu and Amarinder Sukhdawa who was said to be a runner.
The official announcement of the new CLP leader is expected to be made on Sunday after a Goahead from Chieft Congress.
With the Sharadh period starting from Monday, the leaders of Congress wanted a new name to be announced on Sunday itself.
If Jakhar was chosen, it would be for the first time in the history of the country after the reorganization of Punjab that a Hindu leader got the top job.
In addition, the PPCC President Navjot Sidhu can receive his own name.
The source said that his name was cut at a late night discussion by a group of MLA after the CLP meeting.

“While Jakhar is considered close to Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka, many Mlaas feel that Randhawa leads the charge against Amarinder and must be considered for the top post,” said the MLA party.
The problem for Amarinder was installed when various factions in the country’s ruling Congress party hand in hand with the confidential meeting of May 7 to put pressure on him to “act in Sakume cases.” Apart from Sidhu, Randhawa and Chararjit Singh Channi have attended a meeting held at Panchkula.
It followed a series of meetings, where other ministers included the Bajwa and Sukhbinder Singh Sarjararia tripe joined.
