‘Punjab CM must clarify on submission of dossiers’

CHANDIGARH: Congress MLA from Jalandhar (Cantonment), Pargat Singh on Thursday said chief minister Amarinder Singh should clarify whether he had submitted a dossier to the threemember Kharge panel appointed by the AICC, citing corrupt practices by party leaders in the state.
“Tell us publicly if a dossier on MLAs and ministers has been given and who are the corrupt ones.
If my name is there, disclose that too.
He should clarify whether he gave it in writing.
If yes, it amounts to his confessional statement, that he is running a corrupt government,” Pargat said, amid reports that the CM had taken along a dossier on party MLAs when he met with the panel last week.
“There are selective news leaks about the dossier and if it is true, it will bring bad results in future,” the Jalandhar MLA said.
Action should be taken if any of the MLAs were involved in any corrupt cases, he added.
Talking to media persons, Pargat also referred to the irrigation scam unearthed four years back and alleged that the state government had been dilly-dallying on taking action despite there being a confessional statement.
“What about that dossier? No names of politicians and bureaucrats came out of the scam.
Was the statement of those caught in the scam ever corroborated,” he asked.
Pargat claimed that there was no division in the Punjab Congress, but it was a matter of issues.
“Groups are being created and I would request the senior members of these so-called groups to stick to issues as we will soon have to face people…
We should talk about issues.
If someone becomes the deputy CM or a few ministers are changed, will that solve the issues? If political will in case of education department can make it (department) top ranking in the country (Performance Grading Index), why can’t it happen in case of other issues?” he questioned.
The MLA added that a minister who is accused of taking land compensation twice is being defended.
He also alleged that the PA of a minister had been booked in a police case, which was a new practice.
“What about your own PAs? There is an OSD who has been named in an STF report,” he alleged.
“Who is running this government? This person (the CM) had the best administrative abilities but now I have my doubts,” said Pargat.
“I told the panel too that who stops the chief minister from taking action,” he added.
Asked about the posters being put up in favour of the CM by his loyalists, he said there was no need for such a campaign.
