Chandigarh: Minister of Punjab Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Tuesday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to reopen the Karttarpur corridor, ahead of Prakash Purab (birthday birthday) Sikh Teacher Nanak Dev this month.
Last month, the minister of chairman had written a letter to PM MODI and the Ministers of News Union Amit Shah to allow pilgrims to visit Gurudwara dedicated to Sikh Teacher Nanak Dev in Pakistan.
Taking to Twitter, CM Channi said, “Urgent again, I appealed Kartarpur corridors so that the worshipers can visit the temple dedicated to the teacher’s Sikh.
Pilgrimage to Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara was suspended in March 2020 because of the Covid-19 outbreak.
November 9 marked the second warning of the opening of the Kartarpur corridor, which connected Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan to India.
The corridor was inaugurated on November 9, 2019, to commemorate the 550 Parkash Gurpurbab of Nanak teacher, the founder of Sikhism.
In August, Pakistan raised restrictions on travel from 11 countries including India.
Pakistan has placed India under Category C from May 22 to August 12 because of the distribution of Delta variants, which means that the movement of people, including Sikh pilgrims, from India, are targeted by special permits.
On March 16, 2020, both India and Pakistan were temporarily suspended pilgrimage everyday after Covid-19 and also suspended registration for the pilgrimage Kartarpur Sahib.
However, on October 2, 2020, the Pakistani government announced unilaterally opening Pilgrimage Kartarpur Sahib but India did not reply to Gesture.India and Pakistan signed a Corridor Corridor agreement with Pakistan on October 24, 2019.
Under the agreement, Indian pilgrims.
All religions are allowed to travel a visa-free trip through the Corridor Kartarpur to Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib.
