Punjab: Delta variants found in all positive cases

Chandigarh: Very contagious Delta (B.1.617.2) The SARS-COV-2 variant has been found in all the positively tested samples for Covid-19 in the Laboratory of the First Main Punjab Main Genome Affairs in Patiala.
There are no samples that have been positively tested for the Delta Plus (AY.1) variant of Coronavirus, which is considered more transmitting.
Since the launch of the laboratory in mid-September, 239 samples have been sent to the sequencing of the intact genomes, which are only four (1.67%) tested negatively, while 24 (10.04%) of poor quality samples.
According to the stipulated guidelines, samples that have a threshold value of less than 25 cycles are accepted for genome sequencing while the rest is rejected.
The CT value refers to the number of cycles after that the virus can be detected.
In 211 samples left, the delta lineage of the virus was detected, which accounted for 88.28% of the total sample.
In addition to Delta variants detected in Patiala laboratories, previously 1,100 samples were analyzed by the Indian Sarscov-2 genomic consortium (Insacog) found positive for the same variant.
Overall, 1,311 samples have so far been tested positive for delta, the most dominant variants throughout the world, which was first detected in India at the end of 2020.
The genome sequencing lab incharge Dr.
Rupinder Bakshi said the government had set a 400 target of a sequencing test in a month Completion of 5 to 6 days.
“The genome sequencing of all the punjab samples was carried out in the lab,” said Dr.
Bakshi.
Previously, the state government had to send all samples suspected of being a new variant patient to the National Center for National Disease (NCDC) in Delhi, which takes more than a month to provide new variant confirmation, inhibit the steps of detention.
In terms of new variants found in certain areas, there is a need to carry out contacts and testing all that is suspected of being patient to prevent the spread of the virus.
Punjab Covid-19 Nodal Officer Dr.
Rajesh Bhaskar said they now get results in a week, which has helped the State Health Department in taking timely precautions.
Punjab has become one of the worst countries by pandemic.
The country has so far reported around 100 cases of breakthrough infections – cases where individual contract infections are fully or some vaccinated – where 80% are caused by the Delta’s variant.
