Chandigarh: Punjab Government Doctors on Thursday threatened to surround the district administration building from August 2 if the government failed to solve their delayed problems as promised by the Balbir Singh Sidhu health minister.
Doctors are in Loggerhead with the state government over the implementation of the recommendation of the sixth payment commission which has resulted in reducing their benefits, especially non-practitioners (NPA) benefits.
The Joint Doctor Coordination Committee, Punjab – consisting of organizations such as the Association of Punjab Civil Medical Services, Punjab State Animal Officer Association, PCMS Dental Association, Medical Teacher Association and Rural Medical Doctors Association – Announces that from Monday Members of the Committee will put the district office and not will allow anyone to enter the place.
“If this problem is not resolved, local units will begin to occupy the Civil Surgeon office and will ensure that there is no official work done,” said Senior Vice President of the PCMS Association Dr.
Gagandeep Shergill.
If Impasse continues until August 4, the doctor will occupy the Director’s Health Service Office in Sector 34 here in August 5.
PCMS will also start a signature campaign against privatization from Monday in Pathankot.
The doctor will also continue to run parallel opd five days a week.
The committee has allowed doctors to sit in their OPD room but have been asked not to use the slip issued by the government.
All patients will remove drugs from funds raised by the trade union.
So far, around one lakh patient has been examined in the Ops and these parallel drugs worth around RS 15 Lakh have been excluded.
The doctor will continue to carry out the legal case of Medico / Vetro Emergency and Covid’s task.
The Committee will ask civil surgeons and other senior officials from the department to join their agitation.
They will start charging the ‘Levy Union’ of Rs 5,100 from the Civil Surgeon and Rs 2,100 from SMOS and program officials.
PCMSA President Dr.
Gagandeep Singh said that despite the ongoing struggle, the government had not resolved their problems.
He said after the guarantee given by Minister of Health Balbir Singh Sidhu, the doctors had postponed sit-ins for a week.
