PATIALA: While the country has stock of diammonium phosphate (DAP) which is far less than last year, the farmers in the region were alleged that DAP were being sold in the black market, the demand and supply ratio was limped.
According to official data from the State Ministry of Agriculture, Punjab has 60,000 metric tons of doc in stock, while last year around 3 lakh mats are available until the end of September.
But the requirements in Punjab are around 6 lakh Mts of DAP for the Rabbi planting season, including around 5 LMT for wheat.
The source said Punjab expected to get 2.75 LMT in October and 2 LMT in November from the center.
“Farmers, especially potato farmers, are looking for initial dap purchases to sow potato plants in October.
However, for wheat farmers able to wait, because sowing was carried out in November,” said BKU leader (Dakaunda) Gurmail Singh in Patiala.
Singh’s magical farmer from Fatehpur Village in Patiala said, “I jointly carry out agriculture with my brother of my man in about 15 hectares we have.
This year we plan to sow potatoes in 10 hectares like last year and wheat in the remaining fields.
We Need DAP immediately after harvesting rice plants to sow potatoes in October but we face shortages.
Some shop owners sell DAP in black and charge Rs 1,400 per bag, not Rs 1,200 per bag.
Some other private sellers provide DAP at the price set by The government, but forcibly supply other items together with DAP to farmers.
Many farmers get DAP from Rajpura or in Haryana.
Director along with agriculture Baldev Singh said, “We need 4.80 LMT DAP only for wheat plants from total needs 5, 5 LMT Dap this rabbi season.
During the current financial year, we have received 2.75 LMT DAP from the center, which is 2.13 LMT for sale and 60,000 LMT is still in our stock.
During the Kharif season we received 2.13 LMT DAP against 2 LMT requirements.
