Hoshiarpur: A 45-year-old farmer was shot dead on Monday by two unknown attackers in Nangal Farid village, about 30 km from here, police said.
Two armed attackers, who came by car, opened fire on Parminder Singh when he insulted his field on Monday morning.
The two attackers escaped after committing a crime.
Parminder who was seriously injured was taken to the hospital in Jalandhar where he was declared dead.
Senior police supervisor Kulwant Singh Heer said the standby was sounded and the search operation was taking place to arrest the attackers.
The reason behind the murder of Parminder was uncertain, police said.
