Punjab: Glad by saving water from rice cultivation, say farmers after switching

Jalandhar: Farmers who use alternative water-saving techniques to fertilize rice have got results that are almost the same as those who follow the conventional pudak method.
If there is a slight decrease in the output, the farmer said, they even save more input costs.
These farmers also recommend prohibition of inundation, on the grounds that as an alternative technique has been tested with good results, excessive water exploitation must be prohibited.
Amarjit Amarjit Village Kalan Amritsar said that he used dry pudding techniques, promoted by former Daler Singh District Agriculture officers, both for rice and basmen and production more than those who use traditional inundation.
“Even because of the strong winds plants stood falling, which had an impact on production, it was higher than others.
I got 21 quintals per Acre Basmati, while others in the nearest area get 17 to 19 quintals.
For rice, my results are around 35 quintals per Acre, while others get 25-30 quintus, “he said.
“Initially, people closed me.
However, after they saw my product, some said they would emulate my example next year.
In the last 15 years, I have never burned stumps too.
The government must ban traditional styles of faded water, while also providing support Strong and technical support, “he said.
Gurdeep Singh from Kotli Khaas Village, near Mukerian, said he used a seeding of Anaerob (ASR), which was developed by Phagwarabased Farmer Avtar Singh, and received 22 quintals per acre, which was the same as others in the area.
“My assessment is that water consumption in my field is at least 70% lower and my profits are more as I save at the cost of input.
I see people watering their rice fields even during the rain.
The government needs to enforce the ban on traditional pudak methods to save groundwater .
The government must also ensure an economic reserve plan if there is a failure, “argued.
Phagwara Avtar Singh said that he used the traditional faded way in four hectares and received 24 quintals per hectare and used ASR techniques in six hectares and produced 22-23 quitnal acres.
“Even though there are few drops, I save more input costs.
Even Weedicide requirements are less, regardless of 80% less water,” he said.
He also recommends traditional pudding prohibitions with strong expert reserves and also some financial guarantees.
“Next year, I will turn to the ASR technique completely.
Using this technique I can sow earlier, harvest before and sow wheat before others.
I save water, strength, diesel and labor,” he added.
Bakhtawar Singh from Behlor Kalan, near Nawanshahr, using three techniques – dry pudding; Throwing seeds in the field prepared and then watering it; And keep the seeds in water for two days and then sow this just by throwing in the fields and watering it.
“Maximum results with the third technique, and I intend to use this only next year,” he said.
Former Sarpanch from Sitalpur Village near Jalandhar Gurvinder Singh uses direct seeds of rice n beds and gets two quintals less than traditional styles.
“But it’s the same in terms of income as I save with the cost of input which is equivalent to the cost of two quintus,” he said.
He was part of a group of farmers who had previously demanded a ban on the pudding and said that he was standing with request.
