Chandigarh: The President of the Punjab Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu on Friday promised to be the right to be employed to everyone in urban areas.
It will also include unskilled workers, he said.
Sidhu vowed to bring some structural reforms in laws and labor commissions that could truly empower unorganized workers and ask the government to act on his advice immediately.
“Just like Mnrega is a large vision of the Congress, which carries millions of people out of poverty, the mission of urban work guarantees will be focused on eradicating urban poverty,” he told the media.
Previously on that day, Sidhu met several workers in Madanpura Chowk in Mohali and asked how many of them were registered to benefit from the government scheme.
“I asked them whether they had work cards, they said they had to truly pay off money,” he said.
Sidhu said that as part of his ‘Punjab’ model, the urban work guarantee scheme is the need for hours and he will fight with the battle to bring him to the Punjab people.
“The punjab model will launch an urban work mission, the right to employment for urban labor,” he said.
The Head of PCC described the crucial position of unorganized workers in Punjab, said because the lack of registration, labor could not take advantage of the benefits of the targeted scheme.
Workers who are not organized are far from the benefits of social security such as causal leaves and pain leaves, and the labor welfare program run by the government, he said.
