Ludhiana: In a city that has more than 50,000 water connections and illegal sewerage, people have been given the opportunity to set it together and clean up their extraordinary contributions.
With the election fever chasing, the Punjab government has returned to tell the one-time resolution policy for unauthorized water connections and sewers.
Residents have been given three months to clean their contributions and get their connections regularly.
In the policy, the nominal cost has been fixed for regularization of illegal connections.
For houses built in an area of up to 125 square meters, Rs 200 per connection has been fixed, where RS 100 is for water supply channels and the same for sewerage; For houses built at 125 to 250 square meters, the cost of Rs 500 per connection; And houses built on 250 square meters must pay Rs 1,000 per connection.
For commercial / institutional properties up to 250 square meters, the fee will be Rs 1,000 per connection and it will be Rs 2,000 per connection for properties built in a 250 square meter area.
The notification said after depositing a fee, no other fees such as road cutting, connection and security fees will be charged.
After the satisfaction of MC technical officials, the quality of the pipe, connection size and alignment of water supply channels (not below or side by side sewers) the connection will be arranged.
There is no penalty that will be charged if the cost is stored within 3 months from the date of notification (August 25).
For those who will not get their connection regularly in this period, 100% penalty will be charged at the top cost while setting their connections.
For users who do not get their connections regularly within 6 months from the date of notification, their connection will be cut off and the applicable penalty and interest will be charged at the cost of the Pending user.
However, the connection of water supply and sewers issued on behalf of users will not be treated as proof of ownership.
From the notification date, the bill for the user costs will be sent.
Also if the population, which has not yet cleaned the water and the cost of their sewerage, pays the principal number in three months, no interest and penalty will be on an extraordinary amount.
If the principal amount and interest payment is carried out between 3 and 6 months from the date of issuance of notification, no penalty will be charged.
Failure to deposit arrears after 6 months will attract interest and penalty applies next to the termination.
Operation and maintenance cell supervisor engineers, MC, Rajinder Singh admitted that there were more than 50,000 illegal consumers who did not get legal connections.
He said in the past too, OTS for this purpose has been notified and consumers have advanced to arrange their connections.
In particular, there are more than 4 lakh properties in the city and as many as 2.80 lakh property has a legal connection and 1.50 lakh property gets a water supply and bill sewerage.
In accordance with official estimates, there are around 50,000 absent.
