Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (Sad) on Friday urged the General Election Commission (EC) to reconsider the prohibition of selection and corner meetings in Punjab, which stated that the poll panel must allow small meetings because they are a must to approach all parts of society.
SAD spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema, in a letter to EC, said the ban panel in election demonstrations, Pad Yatras, an angle meeting until January 15 caused great difficulties for candidates for all parties.
He said it was impossible to close all assembly constituency voters in digital mode because there were many underdeveloped areas where the internet network did not function properly.
Parents, which are the main part of the population, rarely using the digital method and people from the portions of the poor also have little access to digital technology, he added.
Therefore, most people will remain open if only digital campaigns are permitted, Cheema said.
“This will deny the same opportunity for all voters.
This will also affect the percentage of polls,” said the sad leader, added that they agreed that a large demonstration could be prohibited, but a small meeting was a must.
Allow Meeting, Appeal for Agriculture Group for Pollamhuri State President of the Sabha Sabha Satnam Satnam Ajnala, whose group is part of Sanyukt Samaj Morcha, said their campaign depends on a visit to the door.
“We can do the same when clinging to Covid guidelines.
EC must allow people to at least hold a Nukkad meeting, perhaps with a small meeting, but it is the lifeline of our political campaign,” he said.
‘AAP violated Code’sad spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema claimed that the ruling parties in the middle, and in Punjab and Delhi, misused public funds to promote political interests.
He said AAP came to power in Delhi, but it showed several development stories in the form of paid news on the Punjab television channel.
“Because there is no code of ethics in Delhi, AAP exploits this gap and spend crores on paid news advertisements.
This puts another party in a less profitable position,” said a sad leader.
AAP, BJP GO spokesman Digitalaap Gurbhej Singh said the EC guidelines in connection with Covid best suited their party because they had used old digital mode and wanted EC to take his strict direction.
He said the AAP candidate had conducted a door-to-door campaign with a small group of people and now they are widely used virtual mode, where they have a dedicated team.
“We have a lot of leverage in the presence of social media compared to our rivals,” he said.
BJP District Amritsar District Suresh Mahajan said they had been told to make arrets to arrange at least 100 screens for people to attend virtual rallies held in Chandigarh on January 16
