Punjab: Serosurvey 4 found more than 67% having antibodies

Chandigarh: The fourth serological survey conducted by the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) in Punjab has shown seroprevalence of 67.20%.
More than 83 medical professionals and more than 63 of the general population of every 100 have been found exposure to Covid-19.
The presence of antibodies in a large number of people synchronized with the country among the worst devastated countries in this country during the second wave.
In Serosurvey, the participant’s blood sample was collected to determine the spread of the virus in the selected population.
The latest surveys were carried out in four districts – Gurdaspur, Patiala, Jalandhar and Ludhiana – for samples collected in June from a randomly selected population of 1,985, where 1,334 was found to be exposed to Covid-19 and had developed antibodies.
Of the 400 health workers included in the survey – 100 each of the selected districts – 333 (83.25%) has contracted the virus and recovered.
The highest 87 was found to have contracted a virus and recovered at Gurdapur, 85 in Ludhiana, 82 in Patiala and 79 in Jalandhar.

During the third serosurvey, 19.45% was found to be exposed to the virus, in the second 11.26% and under 1% in the first four districts.
With the third wave around the corner, Serosurvey findings consider the significance as a large population still vulnerable.
To maintain the rate of infection under control, the government needs to increase the detention and management steps.
Hussan Lal’s main health secretary stated that the comprehensive action plan had been withdrawn to handle the possibility of the third wave.
“The main part of the plan has been executed,” he said.
Experts have called for increasing coverage of covid vaccination.
Punjab has so far managed to manage 90.81,574 vaccine doses since the launch of the drive from January 16.
Punjab has fully vaccinated 5.6% of its population and has given the first dose to 24.8% of the qualified population.
The count of new cases had fallen after peaking for 6-12 May when 60,030 people contracted the virus – the highest weekly number since the start of the Pandemic.
Weekly kasel has fallen since and touched 592 for last week.
The level of participation in the past few weeks remains below the 1% limit.
The weekly front level until last week January was at 0.90% and began to rise from mid-February and remain above the 5% limit set by the World Health Organization (WHO) to May-End.
