LUDHIANA: The enforcement wing of Punjab State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) division has enforced penalty of Rs 10.44 crore on tax evaders through the month of April. Ludhiana’s cellphone wing topped the record with penalties to the tune of Rs 3.35 crore. A spokesperson of the Taxation Department explained that this can be an all-time high penalty enforced during one month. Regardless of how the amount of Covid-19 instances seen a spike in April and out of past year the amount of cellular wings have been reduced to 7 in 13, the police wing of State GST department acquired achievement in establishing a new standard, stated the spokesperson. Significantly, the commodity-wise evaluation shows that the Rs 4.59 crore punishment has been imposed on automobiles carrying iron garbage, Rs 2.60 crore on Vehicles carrying finished products of steel and iron, Rs 1.04 crore on automobiles requiring parchoon and mixed products, Rs 1.03 crore on mixed merchandise, Rs 80.67 lakh on automobiles carrying aluminum crap, Rs 17.47 lakh discount on vehicles taking mustard oil or seeds. Additionally, iron scrap accounted for 43.96percent of the entire penalty levied during April, 2021, whilst parchoon merchandise accounted for 9.9percent of the whole punishment imposed.
