Chandigarh: The Head of the Punjab Congress Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sunday launched his party’s digital campaign for assembly polls, the day after the Election Commission stated the schedule and forbade public demonstrations until January 15 amid a surge in Coronavirus cases.
Sidhu said his party had emphasized the importance of digitizing and maintaining virtual interactions with voters, and confirmed that the Punjab Congress had the highest digital traces among political parties.
“Until January 15, direction is very clear that you have to campaign digitally, through whatsapp whatever it is,” Sidhu said, added that he had discussed 40 to 50 demonstrations before the poll code appeared.
“We hope that things will change after January 15 and in case, if everything worsens, then what cannot be cured must be executed.
We have to pass this litmus test.
Life must be important,” he said.
“In Bengal, we see a big demonstration, we repent and we repair rather than preventing and preparing.
I think the Congress Party has taken the first initiative of preparation and with the preparedness we will prevent,” he said.
Asked when the party would announce candidates, Sidhu said this would be done soon.
“We do it.
Even today, the screening committee meeting is ongoing.
We will make a decision after thinking,” he said.
In the “punjab model”, Sidhu said it was not a personal or selfish model.
“This is a model of the Punjab people.
This is a solution that is made specifically for problems that are prevalent in Punjab which is made after intensive research is carried out in the country and its function.
This model carries back to the hands of the Punjab people for their own prosperity and growth , “he said in a statement.
“The actual stakeholders of the Punjab model are their people and PPCC will soon open the way for the Punjab community through WhatsApp services to provide their input for the punjab model and seek clarification,” he said.
He said the “punjab model” will not only bring the constitutional power to return to Panchayat and urban local bodies, it will also aim to create “digital punjab” where more than 150 government services, permissions and approvals will be available to people at top of the doorway.
He said building a capable country and responsible is the key to reducing poverty.
“Political leaders are the main drivers, setting goals for governance systems.
Today, Punjab requires governance reform, which translates public problems into policy with poverty reduction strategies,” he said.
