Patiala: A car carrying three soldiers fell to the Bhakhra canal near Ablowal in Patiala left one of them died while the others were missing.
The incident was reported at around 3:30 p.m.
on Tuesday when the car slipped into the canal after the driver loses control over it.
The police said that one of the soldiers sat in the back seat of the car made it out of the vehicle but the other two could not open the door.
Police said the search operation was ongoing for missing soldiers.
The dead soldiers have been identified as Jagmeet Singh from the Sangrur District while the missing soldiers have been identified as Manpreet Singh Patiga.
The police said that Kamaljeet Singh from Devigarh, Patiala made it out safely.
Kamaljeet Singh said that both Jagmeet and Manpreet were friends and all three of them belonged to the same unit.
“Two of us were posted in Kashmir while others were posted in other countries.
On Monday, one of us called the other two and wanted to meet after we gathered on Tuesday.
But when we returned, our car fell into the canal.”
