Patiala: Patiala Former MP and former leader of AAP Dr.
Dharamvira Gandhi on Wednesday said he would not oppose the election again.
However, he claimed to have extended support for Samyukt’s honest candidate Samaj Morcha (SSM).
Dr.
Gandhi said he also supported the Congress at this stage, because there was a need to save the country’s democracy, which had faced threats amid voter polarization.
“I am not in a position to oppose the election.
I have passed the age of 70 and I have said goodbye to the election politics.
I still remain active,” said Dr.
Gandhi.
Asked whether he joined the Congress, he said, “I did not join any parties.
Even if the party approached me, I was firm in my view.
I support Congress at this stage because Congress needs to be supported, so that democracy in our country can be saved.
This country needs to be saved from the BJP, old and new allies, and hidden allies such as Kejriwal, “added Dr.
Gandhi, who in 2014 defeated the Stalwart Preneet Kaur congress and won with AAP tickets.
He was then suspended from the primary party membership for alleged anti-party activities.
In 2019 general elections, he was contested as the newly floated Nava Punjab Party candidate, but lost the patiala seat to the Kaur preneet from Congress.
He added, “I support farmers and, thus, I will support the relatively honest candidate Samyukt Samaj Morcha.
In the remaining seats, I will support the Congress.
It will be much better if the Congress Party also adopts the principles of federalism and demanding more a lot of strength for the country.
