Chandigarh: To streamline the Covid-19 response, the Punjab government has compiled the RS 331.58 Crore a comprehensive plan to improve health infrastructure after conducting a gap analysis.
The plan is pressurized on increasing existing capacity for early detection, prevention, and management with a special focus on increasing health infrastructure, including child care and ensures the availability of drugs needed and oxygen.
Of the total funds, the central government will contribute to the 198.98 Crore RS below the Covid Emergency response package while the state government must chip with Rs 132.6 Crore.
The plan has two components – priorities cannot be negotiated and cannot be negotiated – and the state government will get nine months to complete the proposed work.
Under the priority of unrivaled components, the state government has proposed a total setting of 27 pediatric units, respectively in all 23 district hospitals and medical colleges that have a collective bed capacity of 1134.
The cost of one unit has been done at Rs 3, 89 crore.
The government intends to establish a center of excellence for pediatrics in medical colleges that have been sought by RS 5 Crore.
RT-PCR testing facilities in public health care systems in 17 districts.
Each testing laboratory will cost Rs 30 Lakh.
To ensure the right liquid medical oxygen storage, the government has proposed to establish a storage tank in each district at a cost of Rs 6.6 Crore.
In addition, there are plans to have at least one medical gas pipeline system (MGPS) where the state will require RS 4.05 Crore.
The number of Rs 2 Crore has been sought to have a hospital management information system in all medical colleges.
Under the non-priority-negotiated scheme component, the government has proposed to regulate sex-bed units in the 100 primary health centers at a cost of Rs 9.83 Crore and 20 units of sleep in 26 public health centers and 42 sub-division health centers and 42.
Where Hospital 35 Crore has been sought.
For important drugs and consumables for management of Covid-19 RS one crore per district.
Because it is able to carry out 60,000 tests – 30,000 RT-PCR and 30,000 mice – the Ministry of Health will require 81 lakh kits for the amount of RS 97.20 Crore that has been proposed.
