PATIALA: Three units of Thermal Factory Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL) closed on Friday as the latest operational unit from the power plant unit also stumbled due to technical barriers.
This unit has run at a half-load capacity for two days.
The TSPL unit has been closed since March this year, while the second unit closed on Sundays due to technical problems.
With the three factory units of 1,980 MW are now not operating, the state power crisis deteriorated.
Unit 210 MW Thermal Factory Ropar has also yet been operational since Wednesday night after leaking boilers.
The state has a lack of power and, thus, PSPCL has been forced to impose power regulation steps in the south zone and borders to redeem shortages.
On Thursday, PSPCL imposed a cutting of more than six hours in some parts of the Punjab.
In the area of Kandi, a five-hour power outage is enforced, while in some urban areas around a three-hour cutting wear.
Rural areas face a four-hour power outage.
Officials at TSPL in Mansa said the unit stumbled on Friday will operate again after 48 hours, while the unit closed on Sunday will operate after one week.
Previously, the plant promised to immediately get a functional unit.
A TSPL spokesman said the unit that was closed since March is expected to operate at the end of this month.
“The component for the unit is closed since March has arrived from China.
The company has spent manifolds to ensure the same time delivery.
Usually, it will take around 10 months for restoration, but with PSPCL support, TSPL ensures its operations within 4 months.
By imposing Limitations on import coal, TSPL largely depends on domestic coal with high ash content, resulting in unit disorders.
Unit No.
1 which broke down on the last Sunday had several turbine problems and Korean engineer teams along with Bhel experts (engineers sent by PSPCL) , GE engineers and TSPL engineers are identifying and fixing problems.
This unit is likely to be restored immediately.
The second unit stopped today has small technical barriers and will be restored within 48 hours, “said the spokesman.
